I was looking for a carboard cutout of a ferocious dinosaur for my niece's birthday party. This one was the coolest looking one by far, but I wasn't sure it was what I wanted. The product description calles it a "poster," which made me think it was printed on heavy paper, not cardboard. Also, the product description says that it "ships quickly and safely in a sturdy protective tube" - obviously, a cardboard cutout can't be shipped in a tube, so I was pretty sure I would be getting a very large paper poster. It was the closest I could find to what I wanted, though, so I ordered it anyway.First, this product is, indeed, a stand-up cardboard cutout (yay!) It is NOT shipped in a sturdy protective tube, but in flat cardboard packaging measuring about 53"x32". Some minor assembly is required - you have to remove the extra cardboard from the perimeter of the dinosaur, and you have to attach his tail. There are no instructions, but I'm confident you can figure that part out. Once assembled, this dinosaur is BIG and FEROCIOUS! I'd say he stands about 6 feet tall (I didn't measure, but he's taller than me, and I'm 5'7) and is about 5 feet long once you attach his tail. This disnosaur is AWESOME - it is definitely worth the price I paid ($30.) If you have a dinosaur lover in the house, I highly reccommend it!This fits great into my sons Jurassic dino themed birthday party so for that, I'm happy but overall am a little disappointed. Had I been able to see this first, no way would I have spent $40 on it...maybe $20. The image is very pixilated but that's not a huge deal and you can't expect much for such a large image. The cardboard isn't as thick nor nearly as sturdy as I would've liked, I had hoped to be able to put it into his room after the party and still will but I doubt it'll last long unless I take it off the stand and nail it to a wall. It comes packaged well in a sturdy outer box but be careful taking the actual dinosaur out and unfolding it as the neck is split for folding purposes and can rip easily while you assemble it. The cardboard stand came with Velcro stickers to attach to the dino which was great and came with a smaller, serperate piece with its own Velcro stickers to attach to the back of the neck. There is also a large white area between the legs for more stability which I don't mind but others may. Overall, for the purpose I purchased, it's great to stand in a corner during the party but I would never have paid $40 for this. I've seen the exact same ones on other sites for $28 and had I not had an Amazon gift card, would've purchased through there. We got this as a decoration for our sons 6th birthday party. The kids LOVED it, and all the parents were excited to see the kids getting their pictures taken with it.We named him Karl. He now lives in our son's room and, not ashamed to admit it, has made me jump a few times. It took the cats a couple weeks to accept Karl as a part of our lives.Buying one if the others for our son's 7th birthday party.Ok so this is the most excited I've been about buying anything for so long! The dinosaur is huge, maybe 5.5 feet or so standing. Very sturdy - I nailed her to a fence because we had strong winds on my birthday, and took her down to live inside after. She is a little pixelated, but it's a small price to pay for otherwise perfection. Very scary 10/10.I realized the measurements are given based on the whole cardboard piece and not the image. They add a couple inches. The girl is 5'8". There were a couple dents where it folded. The other one also had this. I believe the warehouse handlers throw them like frisbees. I did not use the stand as we returned it"This is brilliant, it's massive (wider than I thought with the tail) and the kids loved it at my 5yo Dino-dig party, we made cardboard bones and played blindfold 'put the bone in the giganotosaurus' mouth'. Sadly it arrived with bashed fold right in the middle of it's tongue, it doesn't look like it was fresh from the box and had been used some place before. I'm a bit bummed by that actually..."I imagined this originally for my 15 year old son. He was not able to build this but I did and LOVED IT! Now, I'm hooked and want to build more! I had a great time building this and highly recommend it for a really spectacular display item. When people realize you built it the reaction is just icing on the pride of completing it.this would not stand up on its on. We ended up having to lean it against something to keep it up but that kind of ruined th look of it.
